The School of Common Destiny

In 2016, the claim of the New Caledonian School took an important step forward thanks to the development and implementation of the New Caledonia Educational Project (and its implementation charter). Its preamble states that “The New Caledonian School contributes to the challenges of rebalancing as a place where all children are welcomed and trained. As an instrument of individual and collective emancipation, it plays a fundamental role in the development of “living together” and becoming the crucible of common destiny.”
In New Caledonia, the challenge is therefore to give the School a major role in affirming a community of chosen destiny. The main objective of this book is to describe and analyse what the New Caledonian School is today while also projecting itself into what it could be in terms of content, projects and ambitions to advance on the path of a common destiny. The book brings together 26 contributions written by researchers and stakeholders, all involved to varying degrees in the success of the New Caledonian School and, for some, members of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research in Education (LIRE, EA 7483) of the University of New Caledonia.
