University Diploma in Primary-level Teaching in New Caledonia

University Diploma (DU) Graduate School of Teaching and Education (ESPE)

This course takes place over three years (six semesters).

This course is characterised by its strong multi-disciplinary nature, its high level of professionalisation (four three-week observation and practical placements in the first and second year) and the mindfulness of the objectives of the educational project (moral and civic education, teaching of the fundamental elements of Kanak culture, developing the skills necessary for the educational needs of students with difficulty or disabilities). It is hoped that the students will be trained to become teachers in either bilingual English/French or “Kanak languages and culture”, depending on the options they choose in the second year. The DU is led by a multifaceted teaching team composed of professor-researchers, ESPE trainers, ENEP, IFM-NC, educational advisors and teacher trainers.

The teacher recruitment competitive examination at the end of the second year, allows the student to opt for teacher status and thus rapid professional integration.

This DU endorses undergraduate studies and leads to the issuance of a Bachelor level degree. The graduate courses (master) are thus open to holders of this diploma.
