Degree of Applied Foreign Languages (LEA)

Bachelor’s Degree Department of Arts, Languages and Humanities

The Applied Foreign Languages (LEA) degree aims to give students a strong general knowledge and understanding of law, economics, management and languages. This degree prepares the student for the Common European Regional Framework for Languages (CECRL).
Languages are organised around English and combined with Spanish, Japanese and potentially Chinese. Each language is taught in equal parts through translation, literature, civilisation, linguistic grammar and phonology. The proposed articles are mainly of journalistic and documentary origin.
The fields covered are largely economics and sociology, management, law and business language, office and accounting, as well as computer science.
There are opening units on culture which complement this training well and subjects such as Pacific arts, poetry and theatre and the island novel are also included.

In 2018 an English – Japanese LEA option was added to the list of courses offered by the university.
