Degree in French Language and Literature

Bachelor’s Degree Department of Arts, Languages and Humanities

This degree aims to give students an in-depth knowledge and mastery of the French language, both written and oral, based on a literary culture, enabling them to analyse any type of text and dialogue. The student acquires the skills necessary to enter the teaching, writing, publishing, culture, communication, public service and human resources professions.
The Bachelor of Arts degree also offers excellent training in Oceanian languages and cultures through teachings of Pacific literature, oral works, comparative literature, anthropology, Oceanian linguistics, introduction to an Oceanian language and a solid training in language sciences (phonetics and phonology, French syntax and comparative syntax; lexicology and semantics; enunciation and pragmatics; semiology of the image; sociolinguistics and anthropolinguistics; psycholinguistics, etc.), in Oceanian languages and cultures.

At the end of the course, four paths are open to the graduates:

  • School teacher that prepares the student for the important tests of the CRPE (French and mathematics)
  • Competitive examination to become a CAPES (Professor) of letters
  • Teacher of languages and cultures
  • Research (with a master’s degree in Oceania studies)
